Needs and challenges

Guangzhou is one of the fastest growing cities in China over the past 20 years. With its total population rapidly increased from 9 million in 2000 to more than 16.5 million, the municipal government of Guangzhou needs to control the rising electricity consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Guangzhou is ready to upgrade to an energy-efficient lighting system.

Target: Reduce carbon emissions and cost by 50%, improve lighting effect and consistency.


The right lighting

The local government understands the great pressure brought by the rapid population growth and launched an LED lighting upgrade project which is aimed at cutting carbon emissions by 50% by 2020 and reaching carbon neutral status by 2030. So it's necessary to change the sodium vapor and metal halide lights into more eco-friendly and green lamps in Guangzhou.

And it is LED street lights from iFLUX which provided the most advanced solution. They can be seen on the roads, in residential areas and parks. These high-quality and consistency luminaires they have issued created a friendly atmosphere, which makes the residents feel very warm. During this upgrade, the municipal government of Guangzhou changed 45% street lights into LED lamps, and successfully reduced energy consumption by 56% and annual carbon dioxide emissions by 26930 tons.
